Version 1.0 · as of June 2026. This service description is an annex and part of the contract (§ 2 (9) of the Terms) and defines the agreed quality of the service. The version provided when the contract is concluded prevails.
SpamProtec is a cloud-based service for the automated detection and sorting-out of unwanted email (spam, phishing, malicious messages) in mailboxes connected by the customer via IMAP. Messages classified as unwanted are moved to a spam/quarantine folder visible to the customer, where they remain viewable and recoverable; they are not deleted.
The scope of functions is the same in all plans; the plans differ solely in the number of mailboxes that can be connected.
The package selected and confirmed during the ordering process is decisive. Billing is annual in advance; the applicable prices (gross final prices incl. 19% VAT) are shown during the ordering process immediately before the order.
Checking is performed asynchronously, continuously and event-based — usually within a few minutes to several hours, depending on load. Real-time filtering at the moment mail arrives, or any specific guaranteed latency, is not owed. Regular mail receipt via the email provider of the customer remains independent of the service; in the event of a disruption only the filtering pauses and resumes afterwards.
What is owed is the careful, probability-based reduction of unwanted messages, not the correct classification of every single message. A specific detection rate or false-positive rate is not promised. Individual false-positive and false-negative results are inherent to how a probability-based classification works.
The provider endeavours to achieve high availability of the continuous filter processing of the connected mailboxes and of the accessibility of the dashboard. A specific availability (SLA) is not promised without an express, separate agreement. Planned maintenance windows and disruptions outside the control of the provider (in particular at the email provider of the customer) are excluded. The reference measure is the filter processing or dashboard accessibility, not the mail receipt provided independently by the provider.
For content and context assessment, external AI service providers may be used — after prior redaction of personal data — whose processing may also take place in the USA (details: privacy policy and Terms § 9). The extent of external AI processing can, where technically offered, be restricted per account.
Function-preserving and security-relevant updates (in particular rule sets and the models used) are provided for the duration of the contractual relationship in accordance with § 327f of the German Civil Code (BGB).
Sorted-out messages remain in the visible spam/quarantine folder for the retention period set per account (default 30 days) and are then permanently removed. Customers are advised to back up messages important to them independently of this.
